HOW TO FILL IAS APPLICATION FORM

PART I

In this page most of the details are rudimentary.

• Name and Date of Birth According to your SSLC/class 10th marks card
• Please enter your Community carefully (General/OBC/SC/ST)
• For Girls or category applicants, select YES in the fee remission box, or else it is NO for others.

• Select your qualification i.e "Already passed the examination" if you have completed your graduation
• Enter your address . This address is used for correspondence from UPSC. Also, as mentioned do not  mention your name again here. Do not forget to fill the correct pin code.
• E-mail Id is an important column and needs to be filled correctly. This id is used to access results at the later stage of the exam.
• After filling all the details, check for any typo errors and after checking, press continue.

•  Age relaxation is usually for category students. So if you belong to general category, this column should be No. Also in any other case, if you are below 30, you need not claim age relaxation. So, for most of you, this column will be no.
• Examination centre, choose according to your convenience. In karnataka it can be either dharwad or bangalore. 
• No. of attempts should be 0 if this is your first attempt.

• For most of you, first box will be No (since exemption from appearing in the Indian Language paper is not applicable to us) . You will therefore need to select an Indian language. This is the qualifying paper. It can be either hindi/kannada/marathi,etc according to ur convenience.
• For statistical purpose you need to enter your optional subjects. This however can be altered if you wish to during filling of the main exam form.
• Center for Mains in Karnataka is Bengaluru. 
• Medium : this is usually English for most of us. This is the language in which you will be writing your main exams. 
• After rechecking the information, Continue to the next page.

You will now get a page with a summary of all the details that you have filled till now. Recheck all the information and then in the declaration (as shown below ) enter the random image correctly and select 'i agree'.

No changes in Part-I of the form can be made after you press 'i agree'. 

After this is done. The part I of the registration is complete.  A Registration ID is generated at the end which is VERY IMPORTANT and needs to be noted down correctly.

You can now take a print out of this stage summary and then move on to the part II registration. Here you will need to login using the generated registration ID and the date of birth that u have filled.

PART II

Unfortunately i do not have snapshots because i have already registered. But the process is as mentioned below (if u face any difficulty here, please feel free to give me a call)  :

• make the payment (if you are not exempted from paying the fee) of Rs.50. This can be made through SBI net banking or also very easily through your debit card/atm card. It is very similar to any other online payment process. 
• After this you will need to upload your photo(passport size, properly cropped) and your signature(black pen on white paper) separately. The specification/dimensions of the photo(110 X 140 pixels and less than 40kb size,jpg format) and sign(140 X 110 and less than 40kb,jpg format) are mentioned clearly there in this part. Follow the instructions and scan+upload according to the specifications.(If you go to a cyber center for scanning, they can help you easily with this process of scanning and upload).  Once your photo and sign scan copy is ready, before uploading it there is a option to check the quality. Check it once and make sure it is according to the specification.

After upload is done. The registration is deemed to be complete.

As a conformation you will get an email from UPSC after successful completion of each stage of registration.
